Nick Clegg's campaign to give Power to the people

Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Pendle, Afzal Anwar, supports the proposals by Nick Clegg that would give the general public more power over their MPs.

The proposals by the leader of the Liberal Democrats would give the public the power to sack their MP if they believed that the MP wasn't up to the job.

Afzal said, "If elected I will stand by this pledge: The people of Pendle will be able to tell me to go at any time. I would accept that the people didn't want me representing them for a moment longer."

"I don't expect Andrew Stephenson or Gordon Prentice to make a pledge like this, but I believe that the people should have the power to sack their MP when they want."

"A vote for me is a vote for an MP who is transparent and will go from office when he is asked to. not when he wants to."
