Afzal Anwar pays his respects to our heroes

Published on Sun 8th Nov 2009

Afzal Anwar, the Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for Pendle will today join members of the general public, community leaders and families of our lost soldiers in remembrance of those who lost their lives fighting for us.

Afzal will join the remembrance gathering at the new memorial outside the Library in Nelson.

Afzal said, "I will join everyone in Nelson to remember our heroes who have given their lives for our freedom. I salute those heroes who are not with us, and those who are alive and are fighting for our freedom across the world."

"Times like these make you understand the true meaning of life and how our heroes have given it in the path of freedom and to protect our democracy. When I join the remembrance event in Nelson today I will not be alone, but will be united with everyone across the UK and around the world who is remembering our soldiers."

"Many of our heroes might not be with us today, but they are alive in our hearts and will always be remembered."
