Liberal Democrat run Pendle District Council has won the prestigious Viridor award for Recycling Target Success at this year's National Recycling Awards.

"Pendle has won this award thanks to a 12.13% increase in the rate of recycling after our high profile campaigns." said John David, Pendle Council's Leader on the Environment and Liberal Democrat Councillor for Boulsworth.

"Pendle is passionate about recycling - and we're getting noticed! In the first part of the year we met our target of recycling 36% of all our waste - double our legal target for 2005/6."
