STRICT INSTRUCTIONS TO LIBERAL DEMOCRAT PARTY WORKERS

1.05.34am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 20th May 2009

Pendle Liberal Democrats have issued strict instructions to their own party workers about postal votes.

The instructions are in line with the national Code of Conduct for candidates and political parties and with the Statement on Postal Votes issued by Pendle Returning Officer Stephen Barnes.

Liberal Democrat agent Tony Greaves said that the Liberal Democrats had issued these instructions to contribute to a fair and free election in Pendle.

Tony Greaves said: "I challenge the Labour and Conservative Parties to do the same, and to make sure that their party workers follow the rules. It is time to clean up elections in Pendle once and for all."

The first and main batch of postal votes will be sent out on Thursday of this week.
