Has Change been delivered by the Conservatives over the Cold Snap?

7.10.06pm GMT Tue 19th Jan 2010

After the failed attempt by the Conservatives across Lancashire to grit our roads over the snow snap, Liberal Democrats Prospective MP for Pendle is questioning Conservative politicians about the shambles.

Afzal Anwar is calling on Andrew Stephenson and Conservative Councillors from Pendle to endorse their colleagues at Lancashire County Council or condemn the mess that was made by them.

Commenting on this, Afzal Anwar said:

"Conservatives in Pendle are being asked to either condemn their colleagues and the way they gritted roads in Pendle and the mess they made or to openly endorse them.

"Is not gritting roads and claiming "change" has been delivered Tory party policy? Is Andrew Stephenson going to represent Pendle in the way his party has gritted our roads over the cold snap?"

Hundreds of people were housebound due to the ice conditions and the lack of grit on roads. If the mess of gritting is what the Conservatives will deliver as a government than residents of Pendle are better off electing a Liberal Democrats MP at the next election.
